This life is full of challenges,
Some handled by themselves.
Others need some help.
When you've handled one, put it on a shelf.
There is sickness and death,
Job and financial insecurity.
Do we buy food or medicine?
And government wants to change Social Security.
People rob, rape, and kill each other
For no reason, or an imagined slight.
Drive by shootings with innocents injured
Or killed--what about victims' rights?
Some people are mean and greedy,
Surely they weren't born this way.
They make headlines in the papers
Practically every single day.
And what do we leave our children?
A legacy of death and hatred?
Teach them about God's love--
That legacy is sacred.
