This isn't about your first crush,
Or Donny Osmond's classic hit.
I'm talking about canine furballs
That you love to bits.
Whether tiny puppies or older dogs,
And every age in between--
Whatever breed, whether AKC
Or mutts, always love their human beings.
They become family, no matter
What anyone may say--
Their loyalty and antics
Brighten even a bad day.
True, they can make messes--
But humans make them too.
And the expressions on their faces,
Oddly resemble the looks that humans do.
They're wonderful companions,
They love to play--and stay close
When you're sick or sad. Nothing
Can make you smile like a cold wet nose.
