Every Life Has An Ending

I've lost two friends recently,
One in her 30's, the other 92.
The young one I've know 3 years--
The other since my life was new.

They both had impacts on my life,
One taught me to be brave
In adversity--The other
To be kind and loving like he always gave.

My younger friend had cancer
And was strong to the very end.
The older one was my first doctor--
His varied interests were immense.

He cared for my whole family,
Including my Grandma,
He spoke to me as an equal--
He knew my every flaw.

His son was a doctor in California,
And Doc had it all worked out.
His son and I were to marry, and I'd run his office--
That his son knew, this I doubt.

For all Doc's planning,
It never came about.
His son got sick and died --
It tore his heart out.

My younger friend was too
Young to die--no matter how hard she fought.
Doc's in Heaven with his wife and son,
Happy now--he missed them a lot.
