LIFE

Life is a book
You write as you go,
You can't outline the chapters--
What they'll be you don't know.

You can't classify it--
It has parts of all genres.
Except fiction or fairy tale,
Things you want to forget, and maybe a few honors.

It may drag and bore in places,
No one's story is quite the same.
Almost all have sadness or tragedy--
You can't always assign blame.

There will be tales of dear friendships,
And families estranged or close.
Paths you have taken, or maybe
Wish you had chose.

Tell it truthfully--
Don't use swear words.
You can tell it just as effectively
Without having to curse.

Make sure the book
Explains how you became who you are.
Don't make it sound like you're a saint--
No one is by far.

You may not get to do
A final chapter
Before your life is done.
If God is your Father, just put Rapture.

You may want to put a dedication--
Or simply nothing at all.
Hopefully your book will inspire
To get back up each time you fall.
