Did You Know?

Did you know that everytime
You open your mouth, your words
Can encourage and uplift--or tear down
Someone's self esteem with names like nerd?

Did you know that people
You pick on, may be abused at home--
Whatever type of abuse it is,
That person feels lost and alone.

There are some people who think
Things they say aren't wrong--
They're just "perceived incorrectly",
Then wonder why they can't get along.

Did you know the way you treat someone
Can make them feel like dirt?
Some even take their lives
Rather than face humiliation and hurt.

When you open your mouth,
Think of it this way--
You look both ways before crossing the street,
Think if your words will hurt or brighten someone's day.
