There are so many "genres"
Or styles of music,
It's impossible to name them all--
But each one has it's own special kick.

It's a universal language--
Understood around the world,
Artists of all nationalities
Play to thousands of screaming girls.

Each generation has their favorites,
That their parents couldn't stand.
Some were crooners, some rock and roll--
Elvis "The King" was in high demand.

The music could make you happy,
Or fit your sad mood--
It could make you feel like dancing,
Or "pitching woo".

Gospel was the basis for many,
Some just liked a good beat--
The old folks would sit and listen
While tapping their feet.

A lot of credit goes to the writers
Of all the great songs--
Some pulling all nighters,
Writing words that make you feel you belong.

Music has been known
To reach children with disabilities,
To calm Alzheimer's patients,
And put the dying at ease.
