It's used a lot in government--
Too much it seems to me,
They need a dose of common sense
Mixed in with their degrees.
It's used a lot in hospitals--
Leaving patients bewildered as can be,
Their care must follow procedure
Set by insurance companies.
The legal system can't survive without it--
What with precedents and statutes
Famous lawyers still bungle cases
Out smarted by wise old coots.
Most people say it's BS--
And try to get to the heart of the matter,
But more is added every year
Making citizens madder.
Why can't they cut through it--
And have talks without hidden agendas,
Then maybe the rifts in this country
Might actually be mended.
